Shelby County politicians are playing politics with people's health by threatening to end a successful HIV prevention program in Memphis just because Planned Parenthood runs the program.
Since 2013, Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region has operated an HIV prevention program, Free Condoms Memphis. Planned Parenthood has distributed over 1.7 million condoms to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections. Yet, Mayor Mark Luttrell and some Shelby County Commissioners are attempting take away Planned Parenthood’s HIV prevention grant.

Shelby County residents need effective HIV prevention services. Shelby County has the highest rate of newly diagnosed HIV cases and sexually transmitted infection rates in Tennessee. Denying these lifesaving services based on a political crusade is deplorable, especially when we know that low income communities and communities of color with less access to health services will be hit hardest.
Join us in taking action NOW. Please sign this petition which will be hand delivered to the Shelby County Commission and Mayor’s office. Let them know that we are watching AND acting, here in Memphis and from all across the state.
