Join HFTN for our 2018 Lobby Day. Our elected officials need to hear from us, their constituents, on what policies we want and expect relating to our bodies and our identities. Check our our 2018 Legislative Watch List.

The day will include a morning lobbying training and an afternoon lunch. We will set up appointments with your legislators for you, and provide you with specific legislation to discuss with them, plus talking points to guide you.
All of the day’s activities are in the Cordell Hull Building located at 425 5th Avenue North. Healthy and Free Tennessee’s table will be on the 1st floor near the cafeteria 7:30am-4pm.

7:30-9am Breakfast (Provided) & HFTN Lobbying Training Cordell Hull 8th Floor Conference Room 8B
9am-12pm Individual Appointments with Legislators
12-1:30pm Lunch (Provided) & Speakers Cordell Hull 5th Fl. Conference Room 5C
12-12:30pm Panel of speakers including lobbyists Molly Pratt for Healthy and Free Tennessee, Jenny Ford for Tennessee Equality Project (TEP) and Planned Parenthood, Hedy Weinberg of the ACLU-TN, and Beth Berry of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). They will be discussing insider tools of the trade.
12:30-1pm Rep. Brenda Gilmore will discuss her bills HB 1554 (prohibiting coercive sterilizations in jails/prisons), HB 1985 (reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers), and HB 0825 (community-based sentencing for primary caregivers of dependent children).
1-1:30pm Larry Frampton from Tennessee AIDS Advocacy Network (TAAN) will discuss current strategy and recent successes in HIV/AIDS policy in Tennessee.
1:30pm HB 1554 Rep. Gilmore/SB 1638 Sen. Yarbro will be heard in the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee in House Hearing Room IV (Cordell Hull First Floor).
1:30-3pm Individual Appointments with Legislators
3pm Press Conference with Free Hearts Press Room, Ground Floor
3:30pm SB 1638 Sen. Yarbro/HB 1554 Rep. Gilmore will be heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee in Senate Hearing Room I (Cordell Hull First Floor).
