Healthy & Free Tennessee is excited to be accepting nominations (due Oct 8) and applications (due Oct 22) to serve on our Steering Committee. We are looking for extraordinary people in Tennessee who are volunteer activists, committed advocates, and/or professionals working in the fields of sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice as well as people involved in environmental protection, immigration rights, racial justice, and other areas of human rights that understand the intersection of this work with reproductive freedom and sexual health. 

Please see our website for a list of current Steering Committee members. Steering Committee members attend two in-person meetings per year -- usually in February (winter) and August (summer) and rotating geographically across the state -- as well as regular monthly conference calls. We also ask each member to join and be an active participant on a subcommittee. 

The Steering Committee makes decisions regarding the coalition’s policies and procedures, helps determine legislative priorities, and provides guidance to HFTN staff regarding projects and programs. We hope to gather a powerful group of leaders from all areas of the state, with a goal of inclusivity of race, age, class, gender identity and sexual orientation, urban and rural geographic locations, and a broad range of professional expertise.

We have 4 open slots and terms are 3 years. The current Steering Committee will vote for new members from the list of candidates nominated by our partners and from applications received. HFTN individual or organizational partners can nominate as many candidates as they like and they may also apply themselves. New Steering Committee members will be announced by Nov 5.
