A free one day conference examining the human and civil rights implications of public policies that specifically target pregnant women. Panels will discuss issues of harm reduction, reproductive justice, treatment options for pregnant drug using women, and treatment vs. punishment. Have an opportunity to discuss and vision alternative fair and effective public policies that support the health and well-being of pregnant people and newborns. This one-day pre-conference precedes the joint National Perinatal Association and National Advocates for Pregnant Women Symposium on Pregnant Women, Drug Use, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome: Research & Policies that Support Mothers, Babies, and Families, happening in Nashville October 2-3rd. The symposium will bring together many more experts from across the country, provide space for conversation, evidence-based research, and tools for advocacy and action.
